Practice Setup

Each putting game on BullseyePutting.com is played in 1-meter increments (3.28 feet). So, it's important to find a quick and easy way to measure out the distances you need when you're setting up your practice session.

Circle 1 is a 10-meter radius starting from the basket, so it makes more intuitive sense to break it up in 1-meter increments (i.e. 10%) — even though it's more common to use feet here in the United States. Also, it's easier for your mind to grasp that at 7 meters out you're 70% out of Circle 1.

Measuring Tools

I found the easiest way to layout the various distances of your practice session is by creating a 5 meter long string with knots every 1 meter. I also tie a small nail to the start of the string, so that I can stick it into the grass and pull the line taught to get an accurate measurement. Follow the instructions below to build your own 5-meter string. If you're practicing on concrete then a string won't work, as your string will have too much slack in the line and you'll end with less than 1-meter increments.

Alternatively, a tape measure works fine but can be cumbersome. You can cut a small piece of wood to a length of 1 meter and then use that to measure out to your desired distances. I usually go to a nearby course to practice, so it's nice to have a small string in my disc golf bag I can take with me on the go. But figure out which system works best with you.

Building a 5m String

Cut a section of string that is 5.5 meters (18 feet). I tied a knot around a small nail to signify the start of the string. Measure 1 meter (3.28 feet) and then tie another knot there. Repeat this at the 2m, 3m, and 4m distances. When you reach 5 meters from the start of your string, tie a final knot. I recommend burning the end of the string so that it won't fray and come undone. I've also used a marker to color each knot, since you may wind up with more knots in the future.

Laying out Distances

I place the nail at the start of my string under the basket and pull it out to 5 meters. I place a midrange/driver so that the back of the disc reaches the end of my 5-meter string. I then move the nail to the back of that disc and pull it out to 10 meters, placing another disc here to mark the 10m distance. I then work my way up the string until I have marked out every distance from 5 to 10 meters in 1-meter increments.

Circle 2

.If you're playing a game from Circle 2, then you'll take your 5-meter string and pull it from under the basket to 5 meters. Mark the end of your string with a disc. Reposition the start of the string (here's where the nail comes in handy) at the 5m position and pull it out to 10 meters. Mark this spot. You'll then reposition the string starting from the 10m postion and pull it out to 15 meters. Lay a disc down at the each knot in your string and now you're ready to practice.

Multiple Putters

You will need at least 3 putters (but preferably 5) to play any putting game, otherwise you'll have to walk up and collect your putter(s) — which also increases the time it takes to complete a putting game. So, we recommend getting 5 practice putters of the same weight/mold to improve your practicing efficiency... ultimately getting you better in a shorter period of time.
